Terms of Service

Effective date: August 14, 2026

These terms govern your use of Castrix, the browser-based teleprompter service operated by Jason Aron Media at castrix.app. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

The service

Castrix lets you write and run teleprompter scripts across synced screens and devices. We're in active development ("early access"): features may change, and we'll do our best to communicate significant changes.

Where your scripts live. Scripts you save are stored on Castrix servers under your account, so the same library opens on any machine you sign in from, and a copy is kept in each browser you use so the app keeps working offline. This changed on 14 August 2026 — scripts used to live only in your browser. What we hold, how long we hold it, and who can reach it is set out in the Privacy Policy.

Keep your own backups anyway. No storage is perfect and no service is always up. If a script is going out live, have a copy you control — a printout, a document, a second device. That is production practice, not a disclaimer.

Your account

You're responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep your email current — it's how we reach you about billing and service matters. One account is for one person; screens and remotes you pair for your own productions are of course fine. Pairing links and QR codes give whoever holds them access to your account and your scripts, so treat them like a password and re-pair if one gets away from you.

Who can use Castrix. You need to be at least 18, or old enough to enter into a contract where you live with a parent or guardian's permission. If you're signing up for a company or a production, you're confirming you're allowed to agree to these terms on their behalf.

Free trial

New accounts start with a free 7-day trial with full features. No payment card is required to start a trial, and nothing is charged automatically when it ends — the service simply asks you to choose a paid plan to continue.

Plans, billing, and renewal

Cancellation: you can cancel anytime. If your Stripe receipt email carries a manage-subscription link, that link cancels it in a couple of clicks. Either way, emailing jason@jasonamedia.com from your account address always works — we'll cancel within one business day and confirm by email. Cancellation stops all future charges; your plan stays active through the end of the period you've already paid for.

Refunds

If you're in the EU or UK

You have a legal right to cancel a new subscription within 14 days of taking it out, and to get your money back. Because Castrix starts working the moment you subscribe, we may keep a proportionate amount for the days you had access — for a monthly plan that's usually a few cents a day, and in practice we normally just refund the lot. To use this right, email jason@jasonamedia.com within 14 days and say you want to cancel; a plain statement is enough. We'll refund within 14 days of hearing from you, to the card you paid with.

This right is in addition to everything else on this page, and nothing here takes away rights the law gives you where you live.

Acceptable use

Don't use Castrix to break the law, infringe others' rights, probe or disrupt the service, resell access, or share one set of sign-in credentials across unrelated users or organizations. Where we offer a plan with named members, use that instead of passing one login around. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service or the sync infrastructure, and we'll tell you if we do.

Your content

Your scripts are yours. You keep every right you have in anything you write, import or upload. We claim no ownership of it, now or ever.

What we're allowed to do with it, and nothing more. You give us a limited licence to store, copy, transmit and display your content solely to operate the service for you — saving it, syncing it to the screens you pair, backing it up, and helping you when you ask us to. That licence exists only because a service physically cannot store a file without copying it. It is non-exclusive, non-transferable except to the providers listed in the Privacy Policy, and it ends when your content is deleted.

What we will never do with it. We do not use your scripts to train machine-learning models. We do not read them for product research, analytics or marketing. We do not sell, licence, publish or share them. We do not use them in promotional material, even anonymised, without asking you first. We will not do any of this later by quietly amending this page — if that ever changes, it changes with notice and only for content created afterwards.

Confidentiality. We know a lot of what goes into a prompter is unreleased — broadcast copy, embargoed announcements, results not yet public. We treat the contents of your scripts as your confidential information, and this obligation outlives your subscription. We read script content only where you've asked us to help with a specific problem, where we must to investigate a security incident, or where we're legally compelled and permitted to comply.

You're responsible for what you put in. You confirm you have the rights to the material you load into Castrix, and that storing it here doesn't break a law, a licence or an obligation you owe someone else — including any confidentiality or embargo terms your own client imposed.

Business customers. If you're a company, agency, broadcaster or production putting personal data or client-confidential material into Castrix, our Data Processing Agreement applies and sets out exactly how we handle it, including security, subprocessors, breach notification and deletion.

Availability

We don't offer a service-level agreement, an uptime guarantee or credits for downtime, and we'd rather say so plainly than bury it. Castrix depends on your network, your devices and our hosting provider, any of which can fail. Practically: run a tech check before the show, and keep an offline copy of anything you can't afford to lose. If we have a significant outage we'll say so, and if it hit a paying customer's show we'd sooner refund than argue.

Disclaimers

Castrix is provided "as is" and "as available." We work hard to keep it reliable, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation — do a tech check before the big show, like any good production. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jason Aron Media will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Termination

You can stop using Castrix and close your account at any time — email us and we'll close it and delete your data as described above. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms; where reasonable we'll warn you first, and other than in cases of serious abuse we'll give you a chance to get your scripts out. Sections that by their nature survive termination — your content, our confidentiality obligation, disclaimers and liability limits — survive.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above and notify account holders by email before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Jason Aron Media is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
